When I was in corporate America, about 8 out of 10 people would freely admit that they were unhappy and deeply desired to be doing something OTHER than the work they were doing. Yeah, sure… the salary and benefits was enticing, but at the end of the day, most people felt stifled and like they were off-path in a big way. Studies back this up, with 81% of American employees reporting they are dissatisfied at work. Eight-one percent!!  (Right Management Survey)

I know what it’s like to be one of the 81% who are dissatisfied.

And I know what it’s like to face the fear and challenges of letting go of the security-based lifestyle to step into myself and who I’m meant to be… who I have the potential to be. It’s scary stuff! It puts us directly face-to-face with any place that is asking for growth, awareness or love.

Having now made the transition to a life I couldn’t even have dreamed of, I can tell you first hand that the pain of staying small, staying stuck and confused is FAR greater than the pain of changing.

(Backstory - After getting my MBA, I landed a couple of leadership positions at a Fortune 500 companies only to find part of me feeling like it couldn't breath or express! I felt lost, confused and like something truly essential was missing. I walked away from the security and “success” to become an energy healer and life strategist. Yes, you read that right - an energy healer. Guess what - I really feel like I have it all now. You can ACTUALLY do what you’re meant to do on this planet AND make a living at it. I now work with successful executives and professionals to reconnect them with what’s most meaningful for their life so they can be happy and live super meaningful lives.)

I think Jim Carrey said it best when he said, "You can fail at what you don't want, so you might as well take a chance at doing what you love.”

To take that one important step further… you might as well take a chance at loving who you’re being!

Here's a tweetable: This amazing thing happens when you start to be who you are, listen to your inner voice and follow it. You naturally awaken a deep self love that was always within you. It’s that connection to yourself - and that self love - that moves you through the challenges to stay the course.  TWEET IT!

This Wednesday, I’m offering a powerful live event where I share with you the six secrets to living your best life now. I hope you can join us for this free training where I outline the roadmap to getting unstuck, more clear and tapped in to your potential.

Meanwhile, here are two powerful paradigm shifts to awaken your potential now:

1.  Your Life, Your CHOICES

Do you ever have the experience that life is happening to you? Many times, tough experiences can make even the most spiritually and emotionally mature of us say, “Why Me!” And while I’m all for self-compassion, this type of perpetual way of thinking will only put you in your own way. The truth is… life is always happening. We are either bringing self-directed energy to our life, or life is bringing experiences to our doorstep. We are essentially co-creators with the universe.

In order to avoid getting tossed around in the experience of life, it’s important to consciously self direct and respond:

Become self-directed: This means you don’t wait for someone to give you permission to be who you are or go after what you want. Connect with that inner voice and start following it towards your dreams. YOU give yourself permission to do this, no one else.

Choose your response to life: When life brings you an opportunity - say YES. When life brings you a challenge - CHOOSE how you respond to it. Each of us have our own path, our own challenges and our own growth opportunities. If you’re feeling stuck in your circumstances, it’s time to start questioning your response to your circumstances.

2.  Confront Your Self- Betrayal

More painful than actually doing work we don’t love or dealing with conflict in a relationship we should’t be in is the pain of the self-betrayal. Betrayal is the violation of trust. When we know deep within that something we are doing is keeping us small, stifling our growth or harming us in some way, it’s an act of self-betrayal.  It's a violation of our relationship with ourselves.  Many times we avoid stepping forward on our path out of fear that the risk is too great, that it won’t work out or that we don’t have what it takes to change. The truth is, the pain of the self-betrayal that we can push just beneath the surface so we don’t have to face it head on is ultimately more painful than the pain of change.

"One of the main reasons for the on-going trauma of relentless personal suffering is self-betrayal. Self-betrayal, unlike acts of betrayal that are initiated by others, are often equally if not more painful, because in the end you have to confront the truth that you ignored your own warning signals — that is, your own common sense. - Caroline Myss

What would it take for you to give yourself permission to live the life you want? What if you knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are worth whatever it takes to get there and that you have everything you need within you to grow into who you are meant to become.
